Ok, if you can finish that rhyme then you TOTALLY get who I am! I have been away for a minute because life, of course, gets a little hectic. I’ve been to LA and back, had a car accident (more on that later) and have had family in town- oy vey! I hope you can forgive me (all 3 of you who actually come to this site) and now I am frantically trying to collect pics and vids from the last 2 weeks to update you on what’s been going on. Has it been 2 weeks or 3? Ay Dios miooo… Oh and if you can’t see the videos in the posts below, just click on the header/title and you’ll be able to watch
Gotta admit, I like country music but I’ve been really finding that I am loving it more and more as I explore the different artists that are out there! I’m normally a top 40, hip hop kind of girl but after Josh Turner came to The Couch and made all the ladies swoon, it’s official. I’m a fan! What an awesome guy to hang with and even better to listen to! Check out our interview below. And seriously, what is up with John photo bombing my pic?! SMH… Read more
You know how you have friends that are friends with other people and they always tell you how much you would love that person if you ever finally met??? I have a theory. I think my friends have been keeping me away from Melissa Gorga because our awesome twinsie powers would activate and it would be game over. Seriously. I’m not even going to get into the whole Teresa/Melissa/Caroline/Jacqueline feud because quite frankly, I have no idea what’s going on and I really don’t need any more drama in my life so why would I judge what’s going on in theirs. What I will say is that I really do think that Melissa is a good person at heart, she loves her family and is living her dream- can’t be mad at that! Check her out when she came to The Couch to show us her video and put to rest all of those rumors regarding “STRIPPERGATE”…. Read more
We had expert hair stylist Lee Stafford stop by The Couch to show us how to get that wavy, sexy look and he taught us how to do both sides so they don’t look “wonky donky”. But seriously, the real headline here is that he shows you how to cut your very own hair at home. Don’t be scuuuuuuurrrred. Really. This is the coolest haircut ever!!!! And if you DO try this, will you pretty, pretty please send me your pics? Love, me. Read more
John Elliot literally makes me LOL every morning. A lot of you don’t “get” him just yet. Check out this clip where we seduce our couch with Moll Anderson. Seriously, we should have champers every damn day! #justsayin’ Read more
Never have I ever read more books than I have over the past couple of months but you know what?! I love it. Seriously. I am constantly reading blogs, gossip rags, fashion magazines and other nonsense so it’s nice to finally get some real content to fill my noggin with. Some of my favorites the past couple of weeks? Motherland by Amy Sohn, When It Happens To You by Molly Ringwald (yup, THAT Molly Ringwald) The Longest Way Home by Andrew McCarthy (um hmm, THAT Andrew McCarthy from the 80′s movies) Of course, for some light reading I just picked up GOD by Deepak Chopra..
If you’re on this site right now chances are: your work didn’t block me as porn (laugh now, but I guess it has happened to some people) you’re incredibly bored or you’re nosy as hell. Either way, I’m glad you came!!! Anyhoo, what I was really going to say is that if you are on my site, you probably know me pretty well and know that although I may be gifted in some areas, a chef I am not. I have been trying more and more to make some of the recipes we’ve had on The Couch at home and lo and behold I’m actually starting to learn my way around the kitchen! We had Amanda Freitag on from the Food Network and she taught us this quick and easy recipe that I made this past weekend for my sister and mother in law. They absolutely loved it and it only took about 30 minutes to make from start to finish! Plus, if you want to have friends over and look like you put in a little extra effort (anyone can put out chips and salsa but WE make crostini) this is the recipe for you…. If you do make, send me your success stories! Bon apetit!
Kale, Ricotta, Fresh Plum Crostini
Yields 6-8 crostini
1 bunch Tuscan Kale, finely chiffonade
1 lemon, juiced
1 shallot, thinly sliced
1 Tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
salt to taste
2 black plums, cut into quarters
1 cup fresh ricotta (I substituted whipped cottage cheese- it was great!)
3 Tablespoons olive oil
salt and pepper to taste
In a medium bowl mix together the chiffonade kale with lemon juice, shallot, olive oil and salt. Let sit and marinate for 10 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cut the baguette into 1⁄2 inch thick rounds and spread evenly onto a sheet pan and drizzle with olive oil, salt and pepper.
Toast in the oven until golden brown.
To assemble crostini, smear each piece of bread with a generous layer of fresh ricotta and top with kale and finish with a quarter of plum and serve.
As an alternative, to create a salad, just toss together all ingredients except ricotta (omitting the baguette) and spoon fresh ricotta onto a salad plate and top with kale and plums that have been tossed with the lemon juice and olive oil.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…the only people who think working a red carpet is fun are the people who have NEVER WORKED A RED CARPET. Ok, ok, I don’t want to sound jaded because maybe it is fun for some but it’s really not my style- you have to yell at people, practically assault them to come and talk to you, step on other reporters to get an interview and when the celebs finally get to your spot, you have a snippy publicist telling you to wrap it up after about 30 seconds… Sorry but it’s the honest truth! I’ve been doing the MTV VMA’s carpet for almost 10 years now (yup, my very first one was in 2003 if my fragile mind recalls) and one thing MTV does know how to do is have some fun- more fun than most other awards shows! I always like to make the best of any situation even if I WAS the second to last person in line (oh yeah, it was a rough time getting anyone to talk to me but thank the good Lord in heaven some people recognized me) Here I am discussing VMA fashion with Katrina Szish on The Couch via the KCBS studios in LA… ENYOY!

My good friend Lynn knows how much I love to check out new fitness trends and she sent me an article in the NY Times about the hottest new class that every celeb & athlete is trying. After seeing Simone De La Rue I wondered: are people going to Body by Simone because she is smokin’ hot and fun to look at? Do they really get a quality workout? How many falafel can I eat if I’m going to burn off alot of calories? And can I have extra hummus??? Check out the workout I did with Simone below and if you’re so inclined, you can get your very own workouts with BBSTV- but I’ll warn you in advance- it is hella tough but soooo worth it!

You guys should know by now that I am OBSESSED with the Real Housewives series. Every city. Every cast. I. LOVE. I have even gone to see “Watch What Happens Live” and gone straight in to work the next day because I wanted to see Andy Cohen in action. He is a GENIUS. There was a huge shakeup this season after three new wives were added to the NYC cast and whoever did the casting deserves a raise in my opinion because I loooooove me some Heather Thomson! She is seriously a breath of fresh air and if you don’t watch the show I’ll just say: she’s a woman of her word, is always down for a good time, is smart, funny AND sophisticated. Pretty good combo if you ask me. Ok, I’ll stop kissing butt now. Oh and speaking of butts, I love her Yummie Tummie line for reals. Her shapers always keeps me in check plus they’re so friggin’ comfy! And no, I did not get paid to say that. Here’s our interview with the FABULOUS Heather Thomson!
